His Story
Matt Baker is a U.S. Navy veteran who served as an electrician from 2008 to 2014. That military background — the discipline, the precision, the accountability — is exactly what he brought into contracting when he founded Matt Baker Contracting.
He started the company because Houston homeowners deserve a contractor who shows up, communicates clearly, and never cuts corners. Too many people had been burned by contractors who overpromised and underdelivered. Matt set out to be the opposite of that.
Every project gets his personal attention — from the first call through the final walkthrough. He doesn't hand you off to a project manager you've never met. When Matt Baker says he'll be there, he's there.

After the Navy, Matt went straight into Houston's construction industry — learning the trade from the ground up, working projects across the city, earning a reputation for showing up and following through.

With a decade of hands-on experience and a clear idea of the contractor Houston deserved, Matt founded his own company. 90+ projects and a 4.9-star rating later, the work speaks for itself.
